Marksmen are a vital role in League of Legends, and their importance is often underestimated. They are the backbone of any good team, and without them, a team will often crumble. A marksman's job is to deal as much damage as possible to the enemy team, and they often do this from the backline where they are safe from harm. This means that they need to have good aim and be able to kite well to avoid being killed. Marksmen are often the primary damage dealers for their team, so it is vital that they are able to dish out as much damage as possible. Some of the most common marksmen in League are:
Graves and Twitch - These two assassins are extremely good at kiting, allowing them to stay safe while dealing obscene amounts of damage. They both also have great aim which makes them perfect for being a marksman.
Caitlyn and Vayne - While these two do not excel at kiting or having a good aim, they make up for it by being some of the best tower pushers in League. They are both able to clear waves quickly with their ultimates and push down towers in a short period of time, making them valuable assets to any team.
Ezreal and Kennen - These two marksmen excel at dealing high amounts of AOE damage, which is why they are often used as an AP carry instead of a marksman. Both abilities have very long cooldowns so they do not deal as much damage per second, but they both have abilities that can easily hit multiple enemies at once. This makes them great for teamfights where there are more than one enemy champion on the field. As mentioned before, a marksman's job is to deal as much damage as possible to the enemy team.
